How to create a subdomain using namecheap.com?

It's no doubt that domain names can be a tremendous asset to our website. Instead of long unprofessional and complex URLs, people need only remember a relatively short name to access our site. A domain names clearly adds prestige and simplifies access.

Other advantages of having a registered domain names are, we will never loose the links we gain if we move our blog to another service. We also can keep Technorati links, Alexa rank, Google's PageRank, or any points or links that you gain from now on. And in future, out site might be become very famous then we can sell our domain names.

And luckily, Blogger now supports a custom domain for serving our blog.

If you already own a domain named, say, mysite.com and want your blog to be served at that address instead of at a blogspot.com address, we can host your blog on that domain for you — for free. Your old Blog*Spot address will forward to your new custom domain, so the switch will be seamless for your readers.
Don't have one? You can register a domain name from EasyDNS, GoDaddy.com, ix web hosting, 1and1, EveryDNS.net, Yahoo! Small Business, No-IP, DNS Park, Blogger and namecheap.com.

Those companies offer internet domain name registration with very reasonable yearly prices. Me myself register domain name through namecheap.com service because they accept paypal.

The briefly guide on how to register a domain name and integrate it with our blogger name using namecheap.com could be found on this page. If you use godaddy.com, this article might help you.

After register a domain name, then you also can get a subdomain name. For instance now you have a page named www.myblawg.com then you can add another page such as a contact page and point to www.contact.myblawg.com.

Here i will share you my experience using namecheap.com services.

After login, under "Host Management", click "all host record" link then take a look on the boxes beneath subdomain setting.

Fill the left box with your desired name. This name will be your subdomain name.

Put the address of your page on the middle box.

Choose "URL Frame" on the right box.

See the shot below :

Finish. Do same step to create another subdomain name. According to their live support, Namecheap.com allow us to have around 60 pages.

Good luck for your new domain name an don't forget to share your experience by left some words on this post.

Does hiding NavBar a TOS violation?

Many bloggers feel that Blogger NavBar is annoying then they try to hide or even remove it. Another reasons is sometimes NavBar spoils the look of their blog.

Then bloggers do this or do that to hide or remove it.

But does this a Blogger TOS violation?

On this help page, Blogger make a clear note that "Unless you publish your blog via FTP, the Navbar cannot be disabled".

In that case, your blog then will be locked or removed.

Then, how to do?

Me myself now prefer to let my readers choose their self whether the navbar to be displayed or hidden. I found a simple way to add a show/hide navbar button.

By copy the code from derya-webresource I put the show/hide link on the left area of menu bar. It's work, try it!.

How to setup Blogger Custom Domain using Namecheap

I don't meant to be a narcissist, but finally I got my own domain.

Thanks to all participant whom sent me donations. Now, www.template-godown.com is alive.

I bought this domain name thru namecheap.com and actually need so many days to make www.template-godown alive since this is my first experience using own domain so I am not successfully setting up in one day.

Some people shared their experience about namecheap and blogger custom domain and on this post I just wanna make it more clear by adding a screenshot of setting steps.

1. I assume you already have a namecheap account and bought one domain name. Login to namecheap and you will be directed to your account.

2. See a box on the left and fill in your domain name. Click "Modify>>".

Let's go to the next step.

3. You're now here

4. Find this box and choose "All Host records".

5. Then, under "IP Address/URL" section, just enter 'ghs.google.com' (without quote) beside the ‘www’ sign, and your domain name in 'http://www.yourdomainname.any' beside the ‘@’ symbol. Save it.

6. Go to your Blogger account. Under Setting >> Publishing >> Custom Domain, choose 'Advance Setting' and fill in your new domain name correctly.
.

Tick redirect yourdomainname.any to www.yourdomainname.any. Don't forget to Save it.

Try to load your new domain now.

Please note, in some case, need at least an hour or even a day to make your dns setting being recognize and active. Me myself need a day to make it active.

Suggest you to open a new fake blog to test your domain name opened correctly and once its load successfully, switch it back to blogger host and use the domain for your preferred blog address.

Hopefully this simple how to could help you and if you planned to change your blogger template why not check out my template galleries listed here?

How is my color looks now?

How often you changes your blogger template?

For me, it's quiet often. From the first i have ben change it three to four times. And on each template used, sometimes i change and change the column width, or even the color enable to fit my widget size, or proper to IE, Firefox and Opera browsers.

For the last reason, now i again change my blog appearance.

Wish this is the last one, but actually I still not too confidence with the color. Yes, I have to improve my pallete, as many advises said so.

But after few weeks I still not found the right color. Then it would be an honor if you help me choose what color to be used for my blog's background, header, post, font, links etc.

Lucky for first 5 entrecard user, all their advise (via comment) to be equal as 30 ec' each. Dont forget to put your entrecard profile links!

And any color sugestion choosed, they reserve for 500ec. Sound interesting right?

What? You don't have an entrecard account? Poor you. Go huryy get one!
